Atlanta Airport Maintains Lead as Delta Expands Global Network

Delta Air Lines has highlighted the continued growth of its Atlanta operations, following Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s record of more than 106 million passengers in 2025, according to the latest annual rankings released by Airports Council International.

The Atlanta airport has remained one of the busiest aviation hubs globally over the past three decades, supported by Delta’s extensive domestic and international network. In the latest rankings, Dubai International Airport secured the second position, followed by Tokyo Haneda Airport in third place.

Jeff Davidman, Vice President of State and Local Government Affairs at Delta, said the recognition reflects the collaboration between the airline, airport authorities, and operational teams working across the airport network. He added that Delta remains focused on supporting the long-term development of Atlanta’s aviation sector.

Atlanta’s airport continues to play a significant role in Delta’s global connectivity, contributing to job creation and economic activity across Georgia.

Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp said the airport’s passenger traffic figures reinforce Georgia’s position in international trade, tourism, and investment. He also acknowledged Delta’s long-standing presence in the state and the contribution of more than 37,000 employees based in Georgia.

Over the past several years, the airline has invested more than $12 billion in upgrades across its hub network, including developments at Atlanta airport. These include expanded concourses, upgraded lounges, and technology-led passenger services such as TSA PreCheck Touchless ID to improve airport processing.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said the airport continues to support the region’s economy through aviation, connectivity, and infrastructure growth. He added that the city remains focused on strengthening airport operations, workforce development, and future-ready infrastructure.

The airline currently operates nearly 1,000 departures on peak travel days from Atlanta to 207 destinations worldwide, including 61 international routes. It has operated in Georgia since 1941 and continues to expand its presence across the region.
