Cygnett Hotels & Resorts Signs New Boutique Retreat in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of its upcoming property, Cygnett Retreat TM Collection by Wyndham Ujjain, a boutique resort project in Madhya Pradesh. The development marks a step in the company’s ongoing expansion across pilgrimage and leisure destinations in India.
Ujjain, renowned for its Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga and rich cultural and spiritual heritage, is experiencing an increase in both domestic and international visitors, thanks to improved connectivity and growing tourism. A new retreat is set to open by mid-next year, located approximately 12 km from the Mahakaleshwar Temple and the city centre. This retreat is situated away from the main hustle and bustle, yet maintains good connectivity to key attractions. It aims to cater to pilgrims, families, and leisure travellers alike.

The design is inspired by Santorini, Greece, with whitewashed walls, domed roofs, arched windows, and blue accents. The retreat will feature 100 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting and banquet space, and leisure facilities including a swimming pool, a kids’ play area, a fitness centre, and a spa.
Speaking about the signing, Sarbendra Sarkar, founder & managing director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are pleased to strengthen our presence in Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain holds religious and cultural importance, and with ongoing infrastructure development in the city, we believe this is the right time to establish our retreat here.”
He added: “Cygnett Retreat TM Collection by Wyndham Ujjain will provide a balance of comfort, accessibility, and design inspired by Santorini architecture and tropical landscaping, appealing to a range of travellers.”
Cygnett Retreat is positioned as a brand offering boutique resort experiences. Cygnett Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio, supported by its strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. This collaboration is expected to bring brands such as La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels to India, adding more than 60 hotels across South Asia in the coming years.
