citizenM Georgetown Hotel Joins Marriott Bonvoy Portfolio

citizenM will open its third property in Washington, D.C., in June 2026 with the launch of citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown, located near the historic Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal in the city’s Georgetown district.

The opening represents the first citizenM hotel to debut since the brand became part of Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s global hotel portfolio. Guests staying at citizenM properties can now earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, while members of citizenM’s mycitizenM+ programme receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status as part of their membership benefits.

Designed by Amsterdam-based architecture firm Concrete Amsterdam, the 230-room hotel brings citizenM’s contemporary design concept to one of Washington’s oldest neighbourhoods. The property combines modern accommodation, flexible social spaces and locally inspired artwork for both visitors and local residents.

Situated within walking distance of Georgetown’s waterfront, shopping streets, cafés and boutiques, the hotel also provides convenient access to Georgetown University, making it a practical choice for leisure travellers, business guests and university visitors.

The hotel will feature a range of guest amenities, including a shared living room workspace, the brand’s canteenM food and beverage concept operating around the clock, a fitness centre and a collection of artworks, including a newly commissioned mural by Washington, D.C.-based artist J.D. Deardourff.

Guest rooms have been designed with efficiency and comfort in mind. Features include XL king-size beds, luxury bedding, complimentary Wi-Fi, 4K televisions with streaming capabilities and rain showers with full-size toiletries. Guests can control room settings such as lighting, climate, blinds and entertainment through an in-room iPad.

Marriott executives said the opening reflects the growing presence of the citizenM brand in North America while offering travellers another accommodation option within the Marriott Bonvoy network.

Lennert de Jong, Chief Executive Officer of Another Star, said Georgetown’s cultural and creative character made it a natural location for the brand’s latest Washington property. He added that the hotel’s location and local artistic elements would help connect guests with the surrounding community.

A key part of the experience is its team of ambassadors, who are trained across multiple guest service roles. The approach allows staff to assist guests with a wide range of requests, from check-in and food service to local recommendations and travel advice.

The new hotel, located at 3401 K Street, expands its growing portfolio across North America, joining properties in cities including New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Menlo Park and Austin.
