Capri by Fraser Opens New Hotel in George Town, Penang
Penang Hospitality Market Expands with Capri by Fraser Debut
Capri by Fraser has announced the soft opening of Capri by Fraser, Penang, marking the brand’s entry into Penang, Malaysia.
Located on Jalan Magazine near George Town’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 22-storey property introduces Capri by Fraser’s lifestyle hospitality concept to one of Malaysia’s cultural and tourism destinations.
The hotel offers 248 rooms and residences across multiple accommodation categories, including studio rooms and one-bedroom residences with kitchenettes designed for short and extended stays. Guestrooms include digital concierge access, IPTV with Google Cast and in-room coffee facilities.
The property also features social and recreational spaces, including The Den, a central guest lounge and meeting area, as well as a sheltered swimming pool, gymnasium, yoga room, and EV charging stations. The hotel is also pet-friendly and offers access to pet grooming support services.
Capri by Fraser, Penang, combines a preserved heritage shophouse façade with a newly constructed tower. Kuala Lumpur-based architect and curator Lian Kian Lek led the project’s artistic and cultural integration, connecting Penang’s heritage with contemporary design elements throughout the hotel.
The hotel’s art programme features commissioned works from six artists inspired by Penang’s architecture, food culture, local communities and street life.
Food and beverage offerings at the property are operated in partnership with local hospitality brand Norm, including Palm House Restaurant and Bar and the Grab & Go café concept within The Den.
The opening further strengthens Frasers Hospitality’s presence in Malaysia as the company continues expanding its lifestyle and extended-stay portfolio across Asia.
