Akasa Air Expands Fleet with Additional Boeing 737-8200 Aircraft

BOC Aviation has announced a new agreement with Akasa Air to purchase and lease back three additional Boeing 737-8200 aircraft under long-term operating leases. All three aircraft will be powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines and are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026.
The agreement marks the second transaction between BOC Aviation and Akasa Air following a previous deal signed last year. The additional aircraft will support Akasa Air’s ongoing fleet expansion plans in India and international markets.

Paul Kent, Chief Commercial Officer, BOC Aviation, said the company is pleased to continue its partnership with Akasa Air as the airline expands its operations. He added that the Boeing 737-8200 remains an important aircraft type in BOC Aviation’s portfolio due to its fuel efficiency and operational performance.

Priya Mehra, Chief of Governance and Strategic Acquisitions at Akasa Air, said the agreement reflects the airline’s long-term growth plans and the continuing development of the Indian aviation market. She noted that the partnership with BOC Aviation supports Akasa Air’s approach towards fleet expansion while maintaining financial flexibility and operational planning.
The Boeing 737-8200 aircraft form a key part of Akasa Air’s fleet strategy. The airline currently operates Boeing 737 MAX aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, which are designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
