Bengaluru Airport Waves Goodbye to Entry Fees for Vehicles

Bengaluru Airport promptly revoked its recently implemented parking fees for private and commercial vehicles mere hours after they were enforced, as reported by Business Today.

Earlier on Monday, an announcement indicated an impending increase in travel costs to Kempegowda International Airport.

The newly introduced policy outlined that private vehicles would incur fees up to Rs 150 for a 7–14-minute stay, with no charge for stays under seven minutes. Commercial vehicles, including taxis, faced a Rs 150 charge for the initial seven minutes and Rs 300 for more extended stays. Buses were slated to pay Rs 600, and tempo travellers Rs 300.

The airport was renamed “Kempegowda International Airport” on 14 December 2013

Signs installed at the airport warned that unattended vehicles or those parked for more than 15 minutes would be towed to the nearest police station, the owner of which would bear the expenses.

Misplacing a parking ticket would result in a Rs 600 penalty, and drivers were explicitly instructed not to leave their vehicles unattended.

This fee structure was intended to apply to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. However, the airport authorities have rescinded these charges, reassuring the public by reverting to the familiar previous system.
