Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel Opens on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast

Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel Brings New Stay Experience to Sunshine Coast

Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel has officially opened in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast region, marking the arrival of the first internationally branded new-build hotel in the area in more than 40 years.

Located on Mooloolaba Esplanade overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the 180-room property introduces a modern beachside accommodation option designed to connect guests with the coastline and the surrounding destination.

Scott Wright, General Manager of Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel, said the opening represents the completion of a long-term project aimed at expanding accommodation and dining options on the Sunshine Coast.

The hotel features a rooftop pool and terrace, along with wellness facilities including AvaniSpa and AvaniFit. Guests can also access tailored local experiences through the hotel’s Avani Experience Host service, which offers activities across the Sunshine Coast, including ocean experiences, walking trails, dining, and cultural attractions.

Dining at the property is led by Sully’s Rooftop, the hotel’s signature restaurant headed by Executive Chef Marky Godbeer. The restaurant is initially open to in-house guests ahead of its public launch on 15 May. The menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients and seafood, including Mooloolaba prawns. A Lobby Bar located at street level completes the food and beverage offering.

The opening comes alongside wider tourism and infrastructure developments across the region. The Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project is expected to improve beachfront access and public spaces, while the redevelopment of Sunshine Coast Airport is set to strengthen air connectivity with domestic and international destinations, including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland, Denpasar and Singapore.

The new property joins Avani’s expanding Australian portfolio, which includes hotels and residences in Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne.

Hotel opening rates currently start from AUD 319 per night for two adults sharing a Deluxe King Room, including breakfast, parking, and late checkout, subject to availability.
