American Airlines Expands 2026 International Network with Six New Routes to Europe and South America
American Airlines has announced six new international routes for summer 2026, expanding its transatlantic and South American services. The airline will introduce new flights to Prague (PRG) and Budapest (BUD) — including the only nonstop service from the U.S. to Budapest — and add new connections to Athens (ATH), Milan (MXP), and Zurich (ZRH). Additionally, seasonal summer service to Buenos Aires (EZE) will be extended.
According to Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, the expansion aligns with growing demand for transatlantic travel.
“Europe remains a key destination for our customers each summer. These new routes support that demand and expand access to more destinations,” he said.
Tickets for all summer 2026 routes go on sale August 11, 2025, via aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app.

Central European Expansion

Connections to Athens and Milan
Daily summer flights from DFW to Athens begin in May 2026, joining American’s existing service from other U.S. hubs. Meanwhile, American will introduce year-round flights from Miami to Milan, complementing existing service to Rome. With this addition, American will offer 18 daily flights to Italy and Greece in summer 2026.

To support global sporting events, American will add limited-time service from DFW to Zurich and expand summer frequencies to Buenos Aires from DFW and MIA. These additions aim to accommodate increased travel linked to upcoming international soccer tournaments.
