American Airlines Expands Flights to Augusta and Launches A321XLR Service to Edinburgh

American Airlines has introduced additional flight options for travellers heading to major golf events this year, while also launching a new transatlantic service connecting New York and Edinburgh.
On March 8, the airline operated the inaugural international flight of its Airbus A321XLR between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI). With this service, American Airlines becomes the first U.S. carrier to operate the A321XLR on routes to and from Scotland’s capital.
The aircraft is configured with 20 Flagship Suite seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats. Passengers on board can access high-speed Wi-Fi and seatback entertainment, with Bluetooth connectivity, during the transatlantic journey.
Alongside the new route, American Airlines has also increased its flight schedule to Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) ahead of the first major golf tournament of the year. Between April 5 and April 13, the airline plans to operate up to 23 round-trip flights per day, representing a six percent increase in capacity compared with last year.
The airline provides nonstop service to Augusta from Charlotte, Dallas–Fort Worth, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia and Phoenix. These routes are supported by additional flights from several U.S. cities during the tournament period.
Selected services to Augusta (April 5–13):
Austin (AUS): Round-trip service on April 10; one flight from Austin on April 5 and one return flight on April 13
Boston (BOS): Round-trip service on April 5, 8, 10, 12 and 13
