American Airlines Keeps AAdvantage Status and Reward Requirements Unchanged for Third Year

As American Airlines marks its centennial year, the airline has confirmed that its AAdvantage loyalty program will continue with the same status qualification thresholds and reward requirements for the third consecutive year. This approach provides members with consistency and a clear pathway to achieve or maintain status and associated benefits.

“ As American Airlines marks 100 years of connecting people and places, loyalty remains central to our business,” said Scott Long, Senior Vice President of AAdvantage.

“The AAdvantage program goes beyond earning miles by offering rewards that reflect the relationship we have with our members. These updates are intended to keep the program clear and accessible.”

Expanded reward options for members

Through Loyalty Point Rewards, AAdvantage members can access rewards before, between, and beyond each status level. In addition to existing options, additional rewards give members greater flexibility to shape their travel experience.

Members who qualify for AAdvantage status beginning March 1, 2026, will also be eligible to request a limited-edition centennial luggage tag. The luggage tag will be available across all status tiers, from AAdvantage Gold to AAdvantage Executive Platinum, as well as to Million Miler℠ members.

Rewards available from March 1 include:

  • American Airlines VacationsSM credits ranging from $250 to $500

  • Retail reward options through the AAdvantage ExchangeSM marketplace

Planned additions later in 2026:

  • In-flight food and beverage coupons

  • Subscription options with The New York Times

Using miles beyond flights

AAdvantage miles can be redeemed for a range of experiences and everyday uses through American Airlines’ partner network. Members can use miles for:

  • Tickets to selected sporting events, including the PGA Championship and U.S. Soccer matches

  • Retail products available via the AAdvantage ExchangeSM marketplace

Later in 2026, members will also be able to redeem miles for AAdvantage gift cards across retail and entertainment categories.

Free in-flight Wi-Fi rollout

American Airlines has begun introducing free high-speed Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members, sponsored by AT&T. The service is being rolled out across all narrowbody aircraft and dual-class regional fleets, with broader availability expected by early spring. Members can access Wi-Fi through the updated aainflight.com portal by logging in with their AAdvantage credentials.

Starting in January 2026, free Wi-Fi will be available on Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft; select Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft; and all dual-class American Eagle regional aircraft.

American Airlines continues to update its loyalty program with a focus on consistency, choice, and ease of use for AAdvantage members. Additional details on the 2026 program updates are available at aa.com/programchanges.
