Airbus Partners With Nepal to Support Aerospace Education and Training
Tribhuvan University Expands Aerospace Learning Through Airbus Partnership
Airbus and Tribhuvan University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support aerospace education, research, and skills development in Nepal.
The agreement brings together Airbus and Nepal’s largest public university to collaborate on academic development, training, research initiatives and industry engagement, helping strengthen knowledge and expertise across aerospace and aviation-related fields.
The MoU was signed by Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus South Asia, and Prof. (Dr.) Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya, Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University. The signing ceremony was attended by Sasmit Pokharel, Nepal’s Minister of Education and Sports, French Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Virginie Corteval, senior government officials and Airbus representatives.
Speaking at the event, Jürgen Westermeier said talent development remains an important part of building a sustainable aerospace ecosystem.
“Through this partnership with Tribhuvan University, Airbus will share its expertise to support capacity building in Nepal through training and skills development, particularly in aerospace engineering and digital technologies. The agreement reflects our continued commitment to supporting Nepal’s aviation sector through collaboration and knowledge sharing,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya said the partnership comes at an important stage for both the university and Nepal’s aviation sector.
“Our university continues to focus on building stronger technical exchanges with international industries. Working with Airbus will support the development of academic programmes and help strengthen aerospace-related education, contributing to the future growth of Nepal’s aviation sector,” he said.
Under the agreement, Airbus and Tribhuvan University will work together on research, teaching and training programmes designed to deepen student understanding of scientific, technological and management topics linked to aerospace and aviation.
The collaboration will also explore curriculum development in aerospace, aviation and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics and cybersecurity.
In addition, both organisations will examine opportunities for industry exposure through Airbus experts, partnerships with international institutions, internship and placement programmes for students, and participation in joint activities such as conferences, workshops, symposiums and technical events.
The partnership reflects growing cooperation between industry and academia to support workforce development and future innovation within the aerospace sector.
