Air New Zealand Improves June Operational Performance
June Operational Performance Shows Progress Across Air New Zealand Network
Air New Zealand reported improved operational performance in June 2026, with 86% of its 12,279 domestic and international flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule. Although slightly lower than May’s 89.1%, the result marks an improvement from 78.3% recorded in June 2025.

Kate Boyer, Chief Operations Officer, Ground and In-Flight, said the airline continued to strengthen operational reliability despite facing several external challenges during the month, including the fire at Wellington Airport, periods of severe winter weather and other disruptions.
Fewer Delays Across the Network
A key factor behind the improved performance was a reduction in reactionary delays, where delays to one flight affect later services. Compared with June last year, these delays fell by more than 50%, helping the airline recover more quickly from disruptions and reduce knock-on delays across its network.
Over the past year, Air New Zealand has introduced changes to its regional schedules and implemented operational measures to improve day-to-day performance. The airline is now extending these initiatives across its jet network through schedule adjustments and operational improvements.
Cancellation Rates Improve
The airline also reported an improvement in cancellations within its control, which fell to 0.7% from 1.7% in June last year.
Overall cancellations reached 3.3% of scheduled flights during the month, largely due to external factors such as severe weather and disruption caused by the Wellington Airport fire.
According to Boyer, the results show continued progress in areas the airline can directly influence, with ongoing investment in its people, planning and technology supporting more consistent operations.
