Fairmont Hotels Expands with Niseko Resort in Japan

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of Accor, has announced the signing of Fairmont Niseko, a 165-room resort being developed in partnership with J-Will Partners Co., Ltd. The hotel is scheduled to open in early 2028.

Located on approximately nine acres of forest between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri, the resort has been designed by Daiken Sekkei, Inc., with Steve Leung Design Group Limited leading the interior design. The property will offer views of Mount Yotei and provide convenient access to Niseko’s ski slopes, golf courses and nearby attractions, including Niseko Village and Hirafu.

Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said the project reflects the brand’s continued expansion in Japan while supporting the natural surroundings of Niseko. He added that Fairmont Niseko will become the company’s second property in Japan following the opening of Fairmont Tokyo.

Access to the region is expected to improve with the planned extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, scheduled for completion in 2038. The new rail connection will reduce travel time between Kutchan Station and Sapporo Station to around 25 minutes, while continued growth in international flights at New Chitose Airport is expected to support domestic and international tourism.

When completed, Fairmont Niseko will feature two restaurants, a spa and wellness centre, a kids’ club, and onsen facilities, catering to leisure travellers visiting the destination throughout the year.
