Holiday Inn Express Expands IHG Portfolio in Krabi

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang, a 158-room conversion hotel, in partnership with Chok Deesuk Co., Ltd., expanding its presence in Thailand’s Krabi province.

Following a rebranding programme, the property will join the Holiday Inn Express brand and is scheduled to open by the end of 2026.

The signing builds on IHG’s existing relationship with Chok Deesuk Co., Ltd., which also owns the nearby Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach.

Pathana Jitsaereetham, Director, Development, Thailand, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the agreement reflects the continued collaboration between the two companies and highlights the growing role of hotel conversions in Thailand.

According to IHG, conversion projects accounted for nearly 40% of signed hotel keys in Thailand during 2025, as more owners chose to join international hotel brands through conversion opportunities.

Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang will become the first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Thailand and the second in Southeast Asia to feature the brand’s Generation 5 (Gen 5) design concept.

The Gen 5 design introduces flexible public spaces that allow guests to work, relax and socialise, while improving comfort and functionality throughout the hotel.

Located in the centre of Ao Nang, the hotel will offer 158 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a pool bar, swimming pool and fitness centre.

The property is situated approximately one kilometre from Ao Nang Beach and around 40 minutes by road from Krabi International Airport. Guests will also have convenient access to nearby attractions, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Ao Nang serves as a gateway to several of Krabi’s well-known attractions, including Poda Island, Chicken Island, Hong Island and Railay Beach, making it a popular destination for leisure travellers.

Peeranat Deechaisatetha, Chief Business Development Officer of Chok Deesuk Co., Ltd., said the new hotel complements the company’s existing Holiday Inn Resort in Krabi and will allow it to serve a broader range of travellers visiting the destination.

With this signing, IHG now operates 42 hotels across 11 brands in Thailand, with 39 additional properties in its development pipeline.
