Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, said the Group continued to increase passenger numbers across both airlines during June. He noted that Norwegian expanded capacity by 8 per cent, while Widerøe carried more than 400,000 passengers in a single month for the first time. He added that although Norwegian’s load factor was lower than expected due to the introduction of several new summer routes, the airline expects strong demand during the peak travel period in July.

The airline’s capacity (ASK) reached 3,991 million seat-kilometres, up 8 per cent from June 2025. Passenger traffic (RPK) totalled 3,337 million seat kilometres, up 2 percent year on year. The airline operated an average of 93 aircraft during the month.

The load factor stood at 83.6 per cent, down 4.8 percentage points from the previous year, reflecting increased capacity. Flight regularity reached 99.3 per cent, while punctuality was 79.4 per cent, with flights departing within 15 minutes of schedule.

Karlsen said the airline is preparing for its busiest travel period of the year, with continued demand for beach and city holidays from Nordic travellers. He also noted growing interest from other European markets in visiting Nordic destinations during the summer months. Norwegian expects to operate more than 500 daily flights throughout the peak season.

Widerøe also reported positive growth during June. Capacity increased by 7 per cent to 205 million seat kilometres, while passenger traffic rose 3 per cent to 160 million seat kilometres. The airline recorded a load factor of 78.1 per cent, while regularity reached 98.5 per cent and punctuality improved to 92.8 per cent.
