Railway Arrivals Support Goa Tourism Growth in 2026

Goa Tourism has reported a 6.8% increase in railway tourist arrivals during the first five months of 2026, reflecting continued demand for rail travel to the state.

According to the latest tourism data, 19,87,862 travellers arrived in Goa by rail between January and May 2026, compared with 18,60,568 arrivals during the same period in 2025. The figures also represent a 6.5% increase over the corresponding period in 2024.

Commenting on the latest figures, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said the steady growth in railway arrivals reflects travellers’ confidence in Goa as a year-round destination. He noted that improved rail connectivity, along with tourism experiences centred on heritage, spirituality, wellness, adventure, culture, hinterland and monsoon tourism, is encouraging more visitors to explore different parts of the state.

Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said the continued rise in railway arrivals reflects Goa’s growing accessibility and the state’s efforts to promote tourism year-round. He added that rail connectivity continues to play an important role in bringing families, groups and young travellers from across India, while improved transport links are expected to support future visitor growth.

The increase in railway arrivals highlights the role of improved connectivity in supporting tourism and visitor movement. Goa continues to focus on developing a tourism ecosystem that benefits travellers, local communities and the state’s economy.
