Waldorf Astoria Marks a New Chapter with the Return of Waldorf Astoria New York

Hilton’s premier luxury brand, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, is embarking on a new chapter with the reopening of Waldorf Astoria New York. This iconic landmark on Park Avenue has officially reopened following a significant restoration. The grand opening event highlighted the historic Grand Ballroom, introducing it to a new generation of guests and cultural figures.

On November 6, the Grand Ballroom—known for hosting historic gatherings, diplomatic events, and galas—welcomed guests once again. The restoration preserves the building’s heritage while integrating updated lighting, acoustics, and performance systems. Waldorf Astoria New York resumes its role as a central destination in Midtown Manhattan.

Over the past eight years, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts has grown its portfolio with 17 new properties and 33 more under development. With the reopening of Waldorf Astoria New York, the brand now operates 38 hotels across 18 countries, reflecting continued global expansion.

In 2025, the brand added new locations, including:

  • Osaka, Japan: A 13-floor property within the GRAND GREEN OSAKA complex featuring spacious rooms, three dining venues, and wellness facilities.
  • Punta Cacique, Costa Rica: A coastal resort blending natural surroundings with curated dining and wellness experiences.
  • Helsinki, Finland: The brand’s first property in the Nordics, featuring 116 rooms within restored neoclassical buildings.
  • Shanghai Qiantan, China: A riverfront hotel combining Art Deco design with modern interiors and spa offerings.
  • Rabat Salé, Morocco: Located in the Mohammed VI Tower with 55 rooms, restaurants, meeting spaces, and a spa.

Looking to 2026, new openings are planned in London and Kuala Lumpur, followed by further expansion into key destinations such as Sydney, Tokyo, Bali, Hanoi, New Delhi, and Jaipur.
