The Derby London City Opens in London’s Square Mile

The Derby London City Brings British Design and Hospitality to the Financial District

The Derby London City, part of Curio Collection by Hilton, has officially opened on Great Tower Street in London’s Square Mile, combining British heritage with contemporary hospitality.

Inspired by the bowler hat, commonly known as a “Derby”, the hotel’s name reflects a long-standing symbol connected to British culture and the City’s banking history. Located close to landmarks including the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral, the hotel offers direct access across the capital for both business and leisure travellers.

The property features 234 rooms and suites, including 13 signature suites with views of the London skyline. Interiors combine neutral tones, patterned furnishings and modern detailing, creating a comfortable stay experience within the financial district.

Marking its address at 5–10 Great Tower Street, the hotel introduces a daily ‘Golden Hour’ at 5:10 p.m., where guests can enjoy a cocktail in a relaxed social setting. The lobby also features the Treasury Wall, an installation inspired by the building’s former use as a bank, reflecting the area’s financial heritage.

Dining at the hotel is centred around Rycrofte’s Restaurant, Coffeehouse and Bar, named after Sir John Rycrofte, who served during the reigns of Henry VII and Henry VIII. Overlooking St Dunstan in the East Church Garden, the venue offers British-inspired dishes with a contemporary approach.

The hotel also launches Mercer’s Market, a monthly platform supporting local artists and artisans, inspired by Sir Robert Tate and the area’s trading history.

Facilities at the property include a 24-hour fitness centre, two boardrooms for meetings and private dining, a dedicated private dining room for up to 30 guests, and an event space accommodating up to 70 guests overlooking St Dunstan in the East Church Garden.
