Thailand to Host Global Wellness Summit 2026 in Phuket
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced that Thailand will host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) in 2026. This decision was announced by the Global Wellness Institute at the GWS 2025 event, held in Dubai from November 18 to 21.
The hosting bid was led by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, in collaboration with Phuket Province and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine under the Ministry of Public Health. Presented under the theme “The Symphony of Wellness,” the proposal reflects Thailand’s intention to strengthen its role within the global wellness economy.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said, “We acknowledge the organisations involved in Thailand’s successful bid to host the Global Wellness Summit 2026. TAT is prepared to support their efforts and contribute to a well-organised event in Phuket. Thailand’s range of wellness offerings, including traditional therapies and nature-based activities, provides a solid platform for welcoming the wellness community next year.”
The Global Wellness Summit 2026 is set to take place from November 10 to 13 in Phuket. The event is anticipated to attract over 600 delegates from more than 30 countries, including industry leaders, investors, policymakers, and researchers. Initial assessments suggest that the summit will promote business engagement and foster activity within the broader wellness sector.
Thailand is well-prepared to host GWS 2026, thanks to its continuous development in health and wellness services. These services include medical care, holistic therapies, traditional Thai medicine, and innovative health advancements. Interest in Thailand’s wellness offerings is growing in key international markets, particularly in the Gulf region. This increasing interest is further supported by events such as TAT’s Middle East Luxury Trade Meet held in Kuwait and Bahrain in November.
Phuket is enhancing its strategy to become a Global Wellness Capital by focusing on longevity services, medical innovation, wellness hospitality, and health-oriented urban planning. Hosting the Global Wellness Summit in 2026 is anticipated to support this goal by attracting investment and raising international awareness.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is committed to promoting wellness as a key aspect of its tourism strategy. This includes various health and mindful travel initiatives, such as the recent global campaign “Unforgettable Experience: Healing is the New Luxury.” The GWS 2026 presents an opportunity to showcase Thailand’s strengths in wellness and to collaborate with partners to ensure the summit’s success.
