IHCL Signs Taj Hotel in Guwahati
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Taj hotel in Guwahati, marking the brand’s entry into the capital city of Assam. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The upcoming Taj Guwahati will feature 250 rooms. The project includes the renovation and repositioning of an existing 150-room property, along with the addition of 100 new rooms.

According to Puneet Chhatwal, the development reflects the company’s confidence in Assam’s economic growth and Guwahati’s role as a commercial and cultural hub for the Northeast. He noted that the introduction of the Taj brand in the city is expected to contribute to the development of the hospitality sector while supporting the region’s business and tourism activity.
Taj Guwahati to Offer Hospitality Inspired by Assam

Located in the centre of Guwahati, the hotel will be developed on an expanded parcel of land of over 9 acres. The property is planned as an urban retreat that reflects the culture and character of Assam.
The hotel will include several dining venues, banqueting and meeting facilities, and the brand’s J Wellness Circle spa. These facilities are intended to serve both business and leisure travellers visiting the city.
With this signing, Indian Hotels Company Limited will have five hotels in Guwahati, including three currently under development.
