Sydney Airport to Welcome STARLUX Airlines with Direct Taiwan Service in 2027
Sydney Airport has announced that STARLUX Airlines will launch direct flights between Sydney and Taiwan in 2027.
The new service will make Sydney Airport the first airport in Australia to be served by STARLUX Airlines, with the route continuing onward to Auckland.
The announcement strengthens air connectivity between Australia and Taiwan while providing travelers with additional international travel options.

Taiwan Market Continues Strong Growth
Taiwan remains one of Sydney Airport’s fastest-growing international travel markets.
According to airport data, passenger traffic between Sydney and Taiwan increased by 18% in 2025, reaching nearly 194,000 passengers.
The market also serves as an important regional gateway, offering connections to destinations across Europe, Japan and the United States through Taipei.
New Route Expands Passenger Choice
Scott Charlton said the arrival of STARLUX Airlines will provide travellers with greater choice, competition and connectivity.
He noted that the partnership reflects continued demand for premium travel experiences and reinforces Sydney Airport’s position as an important international aviation hub.
STARLUX Airlines Plans Long-Term Presence
Glenn Chai said Sydney is an important gateway city and a key market for the airline’s future growth.
He stated that the new route will strengthen travel links between Australia and Taiwan while providing passengers with convenient onward connections through Taipei to destinations across Asia and other global markets.
The airline also plans to establish a long-term presence in Australia through the new service.
Airline Focuses on Premium Travel Experience
Founded in 2020, STARLUX Airlines has positioned itself as a premium airline focused on customer experience and service quality.
The carrier recently received a Five-Star Airline rating from Skytrax for the second consecutive year.
