Sterling Holidays Reports Steady Demand for Lazy Winter Getaways in North India

The winter travel season in North India has begun on a positive note, with hotels in popular hill stations seeing an increase in inquiries for the upcoming holiday period. Sterling Holiday Resorts is seeing significant interest in its Lazy Winter Getaway package in Kufri and Manali, attracting travellers from across the country. This trend suggests a growing preference for shorter winter breaks in attractive destinations with noticeably better air quality.

The inquiry patterns at Sterling indicate that travellers are looking for stays that are both relaxing and comfortable. In response to this demand, the Lazy Winter Getaway offers centrally heated rooms, extended meal times, couples’ spa sessions, and in-room tea and coffee setups to encourage slower mornings and quieter evenings.

Harinath M, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited, said, “Across our resorts, guests are looking for experiences that let them thoughtfully enjoy winter. They want to step away from city routines and slow down during their break. The Lazy Winter Getaway reflects these preferences, and the early response indicates the relevance of a winter format that balances ease with comfort. It shows that travellers now value stays that match the rhythm of the season while remaining simple to plan and enjoy.”

Interest in winter destinations across the northern hill belt has continued to grow, supported by clearer skies, better AQI, and a significant reduction in pollution levels compared to major cities. Travel platforms indicate that couples, families, and working professionals are increasingly choosing cooler regions where the weather provides a more defined seasonal experience. Hill stations are benefiting from this behaviour as travellers seek crisp air, open views, and winter landscapes that differ markedly from conditions in the plains.

Insights from travel platforms also indicate that social media content is influencing winter travel trends. Images of frost-covered terrain, early snowfall updates, and user-generated winter reels are drawing more attention to northern hill stations, contributing to steady enquiry volumes through the season.

This shift is especially evident in Himachal Pradesh, where tourism is recovering after a slow summer and monsoon. With improved road access post-Diwali and stable weather conditions, occupancy in major hill stations has begun to increase. Resorts are now welcoming a consistent flow of visitors, supported by clearer travel routes and renewed confidence in planning winter trips.

Sterling’s Lazy Winter Getaway is well aligned with this environment. December bookings have been strong, and enquiry levels indicate demand will likely continue through the holiday period and into early January. The offering is particularly appealing to feeder markets in North India, where travellers are seeking short winter stays that fit seamlessly into year-end plans.

Sterling will continue to offer the Lazy Winter Getaway throughout the season at its properties in Manali and Kufri, as tourism in Himachal Pradesh remains on a positive trajectory.
