Sri Lanka Tourism Participates in JATA Tourism Expo 2025 in Nagoya

Sri Lanka Tourism participated in the JATA Tourism Expo 2025, an international travel fair held from 25–28 September 2025 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Nagoya, Japan. The event, established in 2014, brings together tourism professionals, organizations, and destinations from around the world.

This year’s edition featured participants from 82 countries and regions, representing 1,350 companies and organizations, and welcomed more than 127,000 visitors across four days.

Sri Lanka’s participation was coordinated by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) with the support of 15 local tourism stakeholders and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo. The official opening of the Sri Lanka Pavilion was led by Mr. Sampath Nissanaka, Managing Director of SLTPB, and was attended by representatives from the participating organizations.

The pavilion featured cultural performances, including traditional dance displays, and visitors were offered Ceylon tea throughout the event. The presentation of Sri Lanka’s culture and hospitality attracted steady interest from attendees and industry representatives.

Japan remains an essential source market for Sri Lanka. Between January and September 2025, the country recorded 28,799 tourist arrivals from Japan, reflecting a 29.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

Participation in the JATA Tourism Expo 2025 provided Sri Lanka Tourism with an opportunity to strengthen ties with the Japanese travel trade, enhance destination visibility, and showcase the country’s diverse travel experiences to an international audience.
