TAT Welcomes Norse Atlantic Airways’ Inaugural London–Bangkok Flight

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed the inaugural flight of Norse Atlantic Airways from London Gatwick to Bangkok, which arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 27, 2025. The event featured a traditional Thai-style reception attended by TAT executives and representatives from Airports of Thailand, who greeted passengers and presented them with souvenirs.

The London-Gatwick–Bangkok service is part of Norse Atlantic Airways’ winter 2025/2026 schedule, operating until 12 April 2026 with a total of 99 flights. The airline will operate two to three flights per week in October and November, increasing to four to five per week from December through April, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with 338 seats.

Representing TAT, Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan, Director of the TAT Europe Region, said that the expansion of Norse Atlantic’s services aligns with TAT’s Airlines Focus strategy to strengthen connectivity in long-haul markets.

TAT and Norse Atlantic Airways are jointly running marketing campaigns from September to November 2025 to encourage travel to Thailand during the winter season. These include social media activities, digital promotions, and targeted campaigns on Expedia and Skyscanner that highlight Thailand’s cultural diversity, responsible tourism initiatives, and lesser-explored destinations.

The collaboration supports TAT’s goal of attracting 1.13 million travellers from the United Kingdom to Thailand by the end of 2025, contributing an estimated 70.46 billion Baht in tourism revenue. The route launch also follows Norse Atlantic’s announcement of five new seasonal routes to Thailand for the 2025/2026 winter season, enhancing air links between Europe, Bangkok, and Phuket.

The United Kingdom remains a key long-haul market for Thailand, ranking among the top ten international source markets. Between 1 January and 20 October 2025, Thailand received over 805,000 visitors from the UK—an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period in 2024—with an average stay of 15.9 days and spending around 63,000 Baht per trip. Forward bookings show continued growth of 10% for the last quarter of 2025 and 13% for the first quarter of 2026.

Thailand’s appeal among British travellers was also reflected in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Choice Awards, where Thai destinations such as Ko Lanta, Ko Chang, Phuket, and Ko Samui ranked highly across multiple categories, including islands, spas, and hotels.
