$100 Million for Pilot Training Facility in India

The international flight simulator provider, Simaero, is all set to build a new pilot training facility in India’s New Delhi. The investment for the project is said to be around $100 million. Once up and running, the institute will aim to train more than 5000 pilots in the coming five years.

The new facility will focus on creating a training centre and developing a trained local workforce. The work on the infrastructure of the facility has already started, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. The centre will have “eight full-flight simulators starting with A320 NEO and B737NG aircraft types”. DGCA and EASA-certified devices will be used to train aspiring pilots in comprehensive training sessions. An in-house ATO will also be offered, covering all main pilot recurrent training programmes. The land for the institute is over 4500 square metres.

According to statistics, India currently has around 12000 pilots and will need three times as many in the next 20 years to meet the increasing demand.
