Schiphol Summer Travel Season Set to Welcome More Passengers
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is preparing for a busy summer travel season, with more than 12.7 million passengers expected to pass through the airport between 3 July and 30 August 2026.
The figure is slightly higher than last summer, when around 12.4 million travellers used the airport during the same holiday period.
On average, Schiphol expects to handle approximately 219,000 passengers each day, including departing, arriving and transfer passengers. This compares with around 213,000 daily travellers during the 2025 summer holidays.

Schiphol continues to serve as an important gateway for travellers flying within Europe and to long-haul destinations. Popular summer destinations include Spain, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Turkey and the United States, while Portugal, Germany, France and Ireland also remain in demand.
To help passengers enjoy a smoother airport experience, Schiphol has advised travellers to plan their journeys carefully by checking roadworks, traffic conditions and public transport services before travelling to the airport.
The airport also recommends checking in online where possible and arriving according to airline guidance—typically two hours before European flights and three hours before intercontinental departures.
Passengers can reserve a free security time slot through the Schiphol app or website up to 3 days before departure, helping reduce waiting times at security.
Schiphol also reminds travellers that power banks must always be carried in hand baggage, while liquids carried through security must be in containers of 100 ml or less.
Passengers are encouraged to check passport validity, review customs regulations before travelling, and use the Schiphol app or website for real-time flight updates, terminal information and waiting times throughout their journey.
