Scapia Secures New Funding Round to Support Growth and Innovation

Scapia has raised $63 million in a funding round led by General Catalyst, with participation from existing investors Peak XV Partners and Z47.

The fresh investment will support the company’s next phase of growth, strengthen its travel ecosystem and accelerate the development of AI-powered products and services for Indian travellers.

Scapia Focuses on Travel and Financial Services

Scapia operates at the intersection of travel and fintech, offering a travel-focused financial platform designed for consumers who frequently travel and use digital financial products.

The company combines travel booking services with financial products, creating an integrated ecosystem for discovering, planning, booking and experiencing travel.

According to the company, flight bookings on the platform have grown five to six times over the past year, while hotel stay bookings have increased eightfold. Growth has also been supported by rising demand from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities across India.

Funding to Strengthen AI Capabilities

A significant portion of the investment will be used to build an AI-first organisation and enhance the company’s technology capabilities.

The company plans to expand teams across:

  • Engineering
  • Product development
  • Data science
  • Design
  • Artificial intelligence

The company believes growing adoption of AI among younger consumers presents opportunities to create more personalised travel and financial experiences.

Investors Back Growth Strategy

Investors highlighted Scapia’s rapid customer growth and focus on travel-focused financial products as key reasons for supporting the latest funding round.

General Catalyst noted that changing travel behaviour among young Indians is creating opportunities for new consumer-focused businesses built around travel and lifestyle needs.

Existing investors Peak XV Partners and Z47 also reaffirmed their support, citing the company’s product innovation and execution capabilities.

New Products Expand Travel Ecosystem

Over the last six months, Scapia has launched several new offerings to strengthen its platform, including:

  • Scapia Pay
  • Rewards-based UPI services
  • Add-on credit cards
  • Credit card bill payment services
  • Scapia Store
  • Scapia Experiences

The company also allows users to earn and redeem Scapia Coins across travel-related services including flights, hotels, trains, buses, experiences and visa services.

Co-Branded Credit Card Portfolio Grows

The company offers co-branded credit cards through partnerships with Federal Bank and BOBCARD.

The company was the first in India to introduce a dual-network co-branded credit card operating on both Visa and RuPay networks.

It has also expanded airport-related benefits through its Airport Privileges programme, which covers dining, shopping and duty-free experiences in addition to traditional airport lounge access.

Travel Demand Continues to Drive Expansion

The company said growing travel demand among young Indian consumers continues to create opportunities for expansion.

The latest investment marks another step in the company’s efforts to build an AI-powered travel and financial platform for the evolving needs of Indian travellers.
