Qatar Airways enables Starlink Wi-Fi on Boeing 787 and completes Airbus A350 rollout

Qatar Airways has enabled Starlink connectivity on its Boeing 787-8 aircraft, becoming the first airline to introduce the service on this aircraft type. The carrier has also completed the installation of Starlink across its Airbus A350 fleet, concluding the programme in December 2025.

With this latest milestone, Qatar Airways is currently operating three Boeing 787 Dreamliners equipped with Starlink. In total, nearly 120 widebody aircraft in the airline’s fleet are now connected, including Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 787s.

The Starlink installation programme began with the Boeing 777 fleet, then expanded to the Airbus A350, and has since expanded to the Boeing 787. These projects were completed over 14 months, reflecting a phased approach to upgrading in-flight connectivity across multiple widebody aircraft types.

Qatar Airways has also secured Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8, allowing the aircraft to operate with satellite-based connectivity throughout its network. Since the service was introduced in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have used complimentary, gate-to-gate inflight Wi-Fi on Qatar Airways flights.

During 2025, Starlink connected over 21 million passengers across participating airlines worldwide. Of these, more than 10 million passengers travelled on Qatar Airways aircraft, using the service on long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes.

At present, over 58% of the airline’s widebody fleet offers Starlink connectivity, delivering internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps. The service supports activities such as streaming, video calls, and online work during flight.

Qatar Airways continues to expand Starlink availability across its route network, including services to many destinations in the Americas and Australia, as well as selected routes across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
