APPOINTMENT
Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata has announced the appointment of Somrup Chanda as the new General Manager, effective January 9, 2026.
Somrup brings two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked across leading brands across India and the Middle East. He holds extensive expertise in hotel operations, revenue maximization, marketing, customer experience, and pre openings.
Somrup started his career with Hyatt in the Food & Beverage sector and and has worked with famous brands within Hyatt, including Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency.
Later he joined Marriott International, where he played a key role in launching India’s first Sheraton Grand hotel and contributed to the pre-opening and rebranding of Indore Marriott Hotel.
Somrup has also worked with in leadership roles with Accor in Kolkata and IHG in Abu Dhabi.
In his new role at Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, Somrup will oversee and lead key sectors across the hotel including operational excellence, rooms division, and front office.
