Lufthansa Hangar One Showcases 100 Years of Aviation History

Lufthansa Group will open Hangar One, its new visitor and conference centre at Frankfurt Airport, to the public on 1 August, following a preview period during which it hosted its first events.

Located next to the A3 motorway at Frankfurt Airport (Airportring, Building 367), Hangar One will welcome visitors on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, subject to private event bookings. Tickets can be purchased through the Hangar One website, with standard adult admission priced at €8.

To mark the opening, visitors on 1 August can take part in a range of activities, including Worldshop promotions, meet Lufthansa mascot Lu, experience a flight simulator (subject to availability), and watch the Lufthansa anniversary documentary, We Are the Journey. The documentary will also be available on Lufthansa’s long-haul inflight entertainment system from 1 September.

Hangar One covers over 6,000 square metres and offers an interactive exhibition that celebrates a century of aviation and the airline’s history. It showcases the Lufthansa Group’s airline brands, technology, and logistics operations, also exploring future trends in aviation. Additionally, the exhibition addresses the airline’s historical role during the Nazi era.

Visitors can access additional exhibition content through QR codes using their own mobile devices, while a dedicated children’s audio guide has been created to make the experience more accessible for younger visitors.

Among the exhibition’s key attractions are two historic aircraft: the Junkers Ju 52 D-AQUI and the Lockheed Super Star D-ALAN. Lufthansa expects to open the Super Star’s interior to visitors later this year, while access to the Ju 52 cabin will be available during selected events.

Hangar One also includes the Follow-me Bar, a café and retail shop offering aviation-themed products, alongside seven meeting rooms and a range of event spaces for business and private functions. A flight simulator featuring the original cockpit of a Diamond DA42 training aircraft is also available as part of the visitor experience.
