Indonesia AirAsia Unveils New “Labuan Bajo” Livery to Support Tourism Growth
Indonesia AirAsia has introduced a new aircraft livery themed “Labuan Bajo” as part of its continued support for Indonesian tourism. The design highlights Labuan Bajo, a prominent destination in East Nusa Tenggara, also known as the City of a Thousand Sunsets. The aircraft, registered PK-AZN, now carries visuals that reflect the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

“Indonesia AirAsia continues efforts to promote diverse Indonesian destinations globally,” said Captain Akhmad Sadikin, Acting President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, during the launch event in Labuan Bajo.
“Following the previous Lake Toba-themed livery, the Labuan Bajo design supports national tourism priorities and aims to enhance the destination’s international appeal, while encouraging sustainable tourism and economic opportunities.”
The aircraft design showcases key elements from the Labuan Bajo region, including Komodo dragons, the Manggarai tribe, Phinisi ships, and coastal landscapes, each chosen to reflect the region’s character. These images aim to introduce international travellers to Indonesia’s rich cultural and environmental diversity. The livery also features the Wonderful Indonesia branding, underlining collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
Marketing the destination under the tagline “Connecting Labuan Bajo to The World,” AirAsia aims to leverage its international network to reach new traveller segments. The initiative is expected to boost awareness among global audiences and contribute to growing interest in Labuan Bajo as a destination for leisure and exploration.
The visual project was supported by the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF).
Acting President Director of BPOLBF, Dwi Marhen Yono, said, “This collaboration serves as a strategic step to increase Labuan Bajo’s presence globally. It highlights the area’s natural and cultural richness while reinforcing its place within Indonesia’s tourism landscape.”
Indonesia AirAsia currently operates 8 domestic and 25 international routes across Asia and Australia. Labuan Bajo offers flights from Jakarta and Bali, having transported over 294,000 passengers to and from the area in 2024. In addition, AirAsia Malaysia began direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan Bajo in September 2024.

Combined, Indonesia AirAsia and AirAsia Malaysia brought over 188,000 international tourists to Labuan Bajo this year, mainly from China, France, and Germany. The increased connectivity aligns with the area’s growing role in hosting key global events such as the G20 Summit and the 42nd ASEAN Summit.
Indonesia AirAsia emphasizes passenger safety and comfort, adhering to rigorous international standards, including IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification. The airline also reminds travellers to stay updated on current travel regulations before flying.

By spotlighting Labuan Bajo through this visual initiative, Indonesia AirAsia continues to contribute to tourism promotion while aligning with broader efforts to foster inclusive, sustainable travel in Indonesia.
