From Top Notch to Bottom Barrel: Airline Rankings Revealed

AirHelp Inc. has released its 2024 report ranking the global airline industry, showcasing the best and worst-performing carriers. The rankings are determined by various factors, including on-time performance, customer claims regarding disruptions, and passenger feedback on food, comfort, and service. This report highlights the highs and lows of air travel in the past year.

IndiGo, the largest airline in India by market share, ranked poorly at No. 103. This low ranking is due to its unsatisfactory customer satisfaction and handling of flight disruption claims.

Tunisair claimed the dubious title of the world’s worst airline, last at No. 109. Joining it in the bottom 10 are budget carriers and national airlines, including:

United Airlines and American Airlines have performed well globally, ranking third and fourth, despite experiencing significant operational disruptions this year. In contrast, the Canadian carrier Air Transat made its debut on the list at No. 36. Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines dropped to No. 17 due to a decrease in its claims processing score, following a major tech outage in July.

North American airlines such as United and American Airlines received high rankings, while JetBlue and Air Canada placed among the bottom 50. Alaska Airlines also dropped to No. 88 due to operational challenges stemming from its merger with Hawaiian Holdings Inc. The 2024 rankings highlight the varying performance standards of airlines worldwide, providing travellers with valuable insights as the busy holiday season approaches.
