IHG Expands Americas Hotel Pipeline Across Brand Portfolio

IHG Hotels & Resorts Reports Americas Growth Across Key Segments

IHG Hotels & Resorts has reported continued development activity across the Americas, with new hotel signings, openings and pipeline additions recorded during the first quarter of the year.

The company said it opened 24 hotels in the region during the quarter and added 65 hotels and nearly 6,000 rooms to its Americas development pipeline, reflecting continued owner interest across its brand portfolio.

IHG also reported RevPAR growth across all chain scales and brands in the region, supported by business travel, group demand and leisure travel performance. The United States remained the primary contributor to regional growth, alongside activity in Central America, the Caribbean and Canada.

Mark Sergot, Chief Development Officer, Americas at IHG, said development pipeline additions increased by more than 30 per cent year-on-year during the quarter, supported by conversion opportunities and growth across suites and Holiday Inn brand family properties.

Suites and Essentials Brands Continue Expansion

The Essentials & Suites segment continued to contribute significantly to development activity, with 23 Holiday Inn brand family signings.

IHG’s suites portfolio, including Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites and Atwell Suites, accounted for more than one-third of the regional pipeline and generated 22 signings during the quarter.

The company also expanded its Garner conversion brand, with 14 signings and 8 openings, including its entry into Mexico. Meanwhile, Avid Hotels continued its regional expansion, with a pipeline of nearly 120 properties.

Premium Brands Grow Across Key Markets

IHG’s premium segment also recorded new openings and signings during the quarter.

voco hotels expanded with openings, including voco Times Square – Broadway and voco Sandpiper in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The signing of voco Honolulu also marked the brand’s planned entry into Hawaii.

The company additionally announced the arrival of Ruby Hotels in the United States through a project in Chicago.

Luxury and Lifestyle Portfolio Adds New Properties

IHG Hotels & Resorts Expands Americas Hotel Pipeline

IHG opened four new luxury and lifestyle properties during the quarter, including projects under the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in New York City, Scottsdale and Pacific Grove.

The opening of Hotel Indigo Turks & Caicos Grace Bay marked the first IHG-branded property in Turks and Caicos, with additional InterContinental and Kimpton projects planned for the destination.

IHG also announced the signing of Six Senses Camp Korongo, a new Six Senses resort and residences development in Utah.

The company said its Americas portfolio currently includes more than 4,600 open hotels and a pipeline of nearly 1,100 additional properties.
