Air India has commenced commercial operations to Ludhiana (Halwara), becoming the first airline to operate scheduled services from the newly operational airport in Punjab.
The inaugural flight from Delhi landed at Halwara airport at 0703 hrs, while the return service departed from Ludhiana at 0800 hrs on the same day.
Air India will operate two daily flights between Delhi and Ludhiana using its A320 family aircraft, offering passengers improved domestic connectivity and access to the airline’s international network via Delhi.
The airline said the flight schedules have been planned to provide convenient onward connections to destinations including London, Paris, Milan, Rome and Birmingham. Passengers travelling onwards on Air India’s international services will also benefit from through-check-in facilities, a single-ticket booking system, and baggage transfers via Delhi airport.
The new services are also expected to support business and leisure travel demand from Punjab by improving access to both domestic and international routes.
