Taj Dharamshala Hotel Project Signed by IHCL in Himachal Pradesh
Taj Dharamshala to Restore Historic Estate and Expand Hospitality Offerings
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of Taj Dharamshala, a new hotel project in Himachal Pradesh. The brownfield development also offers scope for future expansion and will further strengthen the company’s presence in the state.
Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said that Dharamshala continues to attract a wide range of travellers due to its spiritual significance, natural surroundings and growing tourism appeal.
She added that IHCL has steadily expanded its leisure destinations across Himachal Pradesh and expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Atman Resort & Cottages LLP for the project.
The upcoming 105-key Taj Dharamshala will offer panoramic views of the valley and the Dhauladhar mountain range. A key feature of the project is the restoration of the heritage wing, historically known as White Haven Estate, which served as the Viceroy’s summer residence during the late nineteenth century.
The hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, two speciality restaurants, a bar and a lobby lounge. Leisure facilities will feature an indoor, temperature-controlled swimming pool, a fitness centre, and the brand’s J Wellness Circle spa.
For meetings, events, and social gatherings, the property will offer a banquet hall, a terrace venue, pre-function areas, and dedicated meeting rooms.
Sahil Sharma, Sadhna Sharma and Mrinal Sneh Singh, Partners at Atman Resort & Cottages LLP, said the partnership with IHCL will help revive the historic property while contributing to local tourism and creating opportunities for the surrounding community.
Located in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range, Dharamshala is known for its scenic landscapes and cultural significance. The town is home to the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Dal Lake and Triund, one of the region’s popular trekking destinations.
Following this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Himachal Pradesh will comprise 27 hotels, including 12 under development.
