Heathrow Airport has announced the winners of its ‘World of Opportunity’ competition, an initiative aimed at supporting small businesses looking to enter international markets.
The programme selected 12 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across the UK. Each business will receive a £2,000 grant along with practical support, including mentoring, export guidance, and a year’s membership with the Federation of Small Businesses.
The selected companies operate across a range of sectors, including engineering, food production, technology, and wellness. Examples include CC Informatics, which applies drones and data science to infrastructure monitoring, and WUKA, which develops reusable menstrual products.
The initiative is designed to help businesses build export capability and access international markets. Previous participants have used the support to fund trade activity and expand overseas operations.

As a major trade hub, Heathrow connects UK businesses to over 230 destinations worldwide. The programme forms part of wider efforts to support export activity and business growth.
Looking ahead, the planned expansion at Heathrow is expected to increase capacity for cargo and passenger services, supporting supply chains and trade links.
