Emirates Expands Chinese Network with New Hangzhou Route, Boosting Trade and Travel

Emirates has launched its new daily service to Hangzhou, marking its fifth destination in the Chinese mainland and the second new addition in under a month, following the start of operations to Shenzhen.

Flight EK310 landed at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport on 30 July, where it was greeted by local dignitaries, airport officials, and a ceremonial water cannon salute. Passengers arriving from Dubai received commemorative gifts including keychains, certificates, and Chinese tea tasting sets.

The inaugural flight carried travellers from various parts of Emirates’ global network, including the UAE, Nigeria, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil. A VIP delegation led by Emirates’ senior management and members of the international media was also onboard.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:

“China plays a vital role in the global aviation landscape, and we’re pleased to support its connectivity. Adding two new cities within a month reflects our commitment to expanding in the region. Demand continues to grow, and our network strategy is focused on enhancing connections for people and businesses throughout East and Southeast Asia.”
He also expressed gratitude to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, and local partners for facilitating the route’s launch.

A Boeing 777-300ER operates the route. Flight EK310 departs Dubai at 09:40 and arrives in Hangzhou at 22:00. The return service, EK311, departs at 00:10 and lands in Dubai at 04:55.

This service connects Hangzhou with over 70 destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas through Dubai. Key onward cities include Istanbul, Barcelona, Cairo, and Johannesburg.
Improved Cargo Connectivity

The Boeing 777-300ER offers 16 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, supporting the movement of goods such as e-commerce items, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.
Hangzhou, a hub for digital trade and logistics, is a strategic addition for Emirates SkyCargo. The route enhances access for Chinese brands to emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.
Enhanced Passenger Experience

With this new service, Emirates now operates 49 weekly flights to five cities in mainland China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.
In Hangzhou, Emirates has introduced its complimentary chauffeur-drive service for First and Business Class passengers within an 80-kilometre radius, using Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles. This service aligns with offerings in over 70 other global cities.
Onboard, the Boeing 777-300ER features 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats, and 304 Economy Class seats. Passengers can access more than 6,500 channels on the airline’s ice entertainment system, including Chinese-language content. Meals include popular Chinese dishes and desserts.
Deeper Regional Cooperation

Through partnerships with China Southern Airlines, Air China, and Sichuan Airlines, Emirates extends its reach within China beyond its network.
The airline also supports China’s tourism sector through cooperative marketing and cultural promotion. An MoU signed with the UAE China Cultural Centre in 2023 aims to position China as a key destination within the Emirates’ broader global strategy.
Travel from the UAE and other GCC countries to China is now more accessible, with visa-free entry for up to 30 days, easing both business and leisure visits.
