Central Vietnam Looks to Strengthen Position as Asia’s Leading Golf Destination

Central Vietnam is preparing for another strong year for golf tourism as the Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) builds on growing international interest, improved connectivity, and sustained engagement across key source markets. The region’s golf outlook reflects broader optimism around Vietnam’s economic and tourism performance, with rising confidence among long-haul travellers and industry stakeholders.

Golf destinations along the central coast are seeing increasing demand from international golfers, supported by a combination of championship courses, luxury resorts, beaches, cultural attractions and expanding air connectivity through Danang International Airport. Together, these factors continue to position Central Vietnam as a compelling multi-experience destination rather than a single-purpose golf break.

According to industry leaders, the region has reached a stage of greater maturity and recognition on the global golf tourism map. Ba Na Hills Golf Club, which marks its 10th anniversary in 2026, has been a key contributor to this growth since opening in 2016. Over the years, the club has earned multiple international accolades, helping to raise the profile of Central Vietnam among global golfers.

The region’s portfolio is anchored by a collection of championship venues, including Montgomerie Links, alongside courses designed by leading names in the sport. Together, these facilities offer a diverse playing experience that appeals to both leisure-focused and serious golf travellers.

Montgomerie Links enters 2026 with a strong performance base, having recorded the highest number of rounds played in the Hue–Da Nang region in 2025. Growth was driven largely by golfers from Europe, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing confidence for the year ahead. The club plans to maintain its boutique positioning while expanding promotional activity in Australia and New Zealand and increasing outreach to Chinese-speaking markets, India and Japan. Enhanced flight connectivity into Da Nang is expected to further support these efforts.

Beyond golf, Central Vietnam’s appeal is set to benefit from a robust calendar of cultural and sporting events in 2026. Highlights include the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival from May to July, along with the Vietnam–Korea Festival and Vietnam–Japan Festival later in the year, adding seasonal depth and variety to travel itineraries.

Australia and New Zealand remain priority markets for the Vietnam Golf Coast, supported by ongoing trade partnerships and targeted marketing initiatives. The destination will also continue its presence at major industry platforms, including the Asia Golf Tourism Convention in Thailand in March 2026.

With a growing international profile, continued investment in infrastructure and a balanced mix of golf, leisure and cultural experiences, Central Vietnam is positioning itself for sustained growth in the year ahead, reinforcing its ambition to remain one of Asia’s standout golf destinations.

“Central Vietnam has built strong, sustained momentum over recent years,” said Simon Mees, General Manager at Ba Na Hills Golf Club. “As we head into 2026, there’s a real sense that the destination is entering a new phase of maturity and international recognition. For Ba Na Hills Golf Club, it’s especially meaningful as we mark our 10th anniversary, a decade of contributing to the region’s growth and helping establish Central Vietnam on the world golf map.”

Our appeal lies in offering a more intimate, personal experience,” said Le Vo Hoang Van, Club Manager at Montgomerie Links. “Golfers value places where they feel genuinely cared for. Montgomerie Links delivers a boutique, home-away-from-home environment, with championship golf, on-course accommodation, dining, practice facilities, and privacy all integrated in a single destination.”

“With world-class courses, improving connectivity and a growing international profile, Central Vietnam is well positioned for the year ahead,” Mees added. “As Ba Na Hills looks beyond its first decade, the focus is on sustaining quality, deepening global relationships and continuing to elevate the region’s standing as one of Asia’s great golf destinations.”
