Adyen Expands Partnership with Cathay Pacific to Strengthen Global Payments Strategy

Adyen has announced the expansion of its long-standing partnership with Cathay Pacific, deepening its role in supporting the airline’s global payments and commerce strategy.
As part of the expanded collaboration, Adyen is now providing direct acquiring services across key markets including Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Japan and most recently India.
Strengthening a decade-long partnership
The partnership, which began in 2014, has evolved into a core component of Cathay Pacific’s global commerce infrastructure. Through the implementation of Adyen’s direct acquiring capabilities, the airline aims to improve transaction performance, reduce payment processing costs and drive additional revenue opportunities.
The rollout in India marks a key milestone in this expansion. Since implementation, Cathay Pacific has recorded a 10% increase in authorisation rates in the market, reflecting improved transaction success and customer experience.
Enhancing customer experience and growth
By leveraging Adyen’s unified payment platform and global acquiring network, Cathay Pacific is working to deliver a seamless and secure booking experience for customers across regions. The integration also enables the airline to scale more efficiently as it expands into new and existing markets.
From Adyen’s perspective, the collaboration highlights its focus on simplifying complex global payment ecosystems and enabling businesses to optimise performance across diverse geographies.
Driving commercial performance
The strengthened partnership is expected to support Cathay Pacific’s broader ambition to enhance its digital capabilities and customer journey, while reinforcing Adyen’s position as a strategic payments partner for global enterprises.
By improving authorisation rates and streamlining payment processes, the collaboration aims to ensure smoother transactions and contribute to increased booking conversions across international markets.

At Cathay Pacific, we believe that a seamless and trusted shopping experience is essential to elevating ourselves to become the most loved service brand of our customers,” said Kinto Chan, General Manager, Sales and Distribution, Cathay Pacific. “By leveraging Adyen’s single integration and trusted extensive global acquiring network, we can ensure our customers transact securely while allowing us to expand into our target markets with ease.”

“Our partnership with Cathay Pacific is centered on turning global payment complexity into a competitive advantage,” said Warren Hayashi, President, Asia Pacific, Adyen. “By optimizing authorization rates across diverse geographies, we ensure more bookings take flight, helping Cathay achieve commercial growth on a global stage.”
