Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney Opens, Marking Brand’s Entry into Australia

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney, marking the debut of the Caption by Hyatt brand in Australia and the Pacific.

Located in Sydney’s Haymarket district, the 174-room hotel combines community-focused spaces, technology-enabled convenience, and locally influenced design to create a flexible environment for travelers and residents. This opening adds to the growing global presence of Caption by Hyatt, with existing properties in Shanghai, Osaka, Nashville, and Tokyo.

Situated near primary transport links, including the Light Rail and Central Station, and close to landmarks such as the Capitol Theatre and Sydney’s Chinatown, the hotel offers convenient access to cultural and commercial destinations across the city.

“Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney will introduce a fresh approach to travel. It is all about being a place where our guests are empowered to create their own experiences, and can connect, explore, and stay on their own terms,” said Temara Exton, General Manager, Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney.

The hotel features Talk Shop, an all-day social space that blends café, bar, co-working area, and event venue. The space hosts regular community-focused events such as poetry nights, live music, and Mahjong sessions. The culinary concept, led by Chef Yammi Cheung, reflects Sydney’s multicultural character through a mix of health-focused and indulgent dishes, served in a casual, social setting.

Local artistic collaborations are central to the hotel’s identity. Sydney artist Chris Yee has created large-scale illustrations throughout the lobby and communal areas, complemented by works from Melbourne-based artist Samy Baby and Japanese-Australian artist Hiromi Tango.

Guest rooms, ranging from Standard to Premium, incorporate locally inspired artwork and emphasize efficient use of materials through recycled and repurposed design elements. Sustainability measures include energy-efficient technologies, food waste initiatives, and locally sourced food and beverages.

World of Hyatt members will receive 500 Bonus Points per qualifying night for stays between October 13, 2025, and January 31, 2026, at Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney. No registration is required, and points can be earned alongside other offers.
