Cambodia To Start Direct Flights To India From June 16

Cambodia Angkor Air, the official national airline of Cambodia, has announced the start of direct flight services between Cambodia and India, starting from June 16. These flights will operate four times a week, specifically on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, providing seamless air connectivity between the capital cities of Phnom Penh and New Delhi.

Eng Molina, the Chief Commercial Officer of Cambodia Angkor Airline, revealed that the round trip from New Delhi to Phnom Penh will cost approximately Rs 23,000 per person, including taxes. This competitive rate is expected to attract a wide range of travellers.

Koy Kuong, the Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to India, expressed optimism about the future. He anticipates a potential doubling of tourist flow between the two nations annually. He cited direct flight connectivity and the increasing demand for medical tourism in India as critical drivers of this expected growth.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodia typically welcomed around 75,000 visitors from India annually. However, according to 2021 figures shared by the Ambassador, this number has declined to approximately 45,000 annually.

The Ambassador highlighted India’s attractiveness for medical tourism due to lower treatment costs compared to neighbouring countries. He anticipates an increase in Cambodian individuals seeking medical care in India.
