American Airlines Adds Special Louisville Flights for Kentucky Race Week

As race week nears, travel demand to Louisville, Kentucky (SDF) is increasing. American Airlines is expanding its nonstop flight offerings to accommodate travelers attending the upcoming major racing event. This year, the airline will operate nonstop flights from 20 destinations. Special flights are scheduled between April 30 and May 3, supplementing existing routes and offering more options for passengers traveling to and from Louisville.
Tickets are available via aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app.
Expanded Schedule for Race Week

American has launched special flights from 13 destinations that are not typically served from SDF, on top of its existing network of seven cities. During peak travel days, such as April 30 and May 3, the airline will operate 41 arrivals and 46 departures, more than doubling its usual daily flights at the airport.
Additional frequencies and larger aircraft will operate from key hubs including Charlotte (CLT), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Philadelphia (PHL) and Washington, D.C. (DCA).
Aircraft and Onboard Experience

Special flights from Los Angeles (LAX) and Santa Ana (SNA) will operate on Airbus A321T aircraft, featuring Flagship First and Flagship Business seating, including lie-flat options.
All other Louisville services will use dual-class aircraft with premium cabin seating. Earlier this year, American finished installing free Wi-Fi, sponsored by AT&T, on its active narrowbody fleet and most of its dual-class regional planes.
Special Flights to Louisville (SDF)
Additional race-week routes include: Austin (AUS), Houston (IAH), Jacksonville (JAX), Las Vegas (LAS), New Orleans (MSY), New York (JFK), Phoenix (PHX), Pittsburgh (PIT), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Santa Ana (SNA) and West Palm Beach (PBI), among others.
These routes operate on select dates between April 29 and May 3 and are not part of American’s regular Louisville schedule.
With added frequencies, aircraft upgrades and new nonstop options, American is increasing capacity to support travel demand during one of Louisville’s busiest weekends of the year.
