Delta to Introduce Expanded First Class Cabin on Select A321neos

Beginning in May, customers flying on seven newly delivered A321neo aircraft operated by Delta Air Lines will see a revised cabin layout featuring an expanded Delta First cabin with 44 seats, compared with the standard 20-seat configuration.

This layout is planned as a temporary measure while Delta awaits delivery of the flatbed suite components, which will later be installed on these aircraft.

Delta's Airbus A321neos Will Sport New First Class Configuration

According to the airline, the interim configuration allows the aircraft to enter service in time for the summer travel season rather than remaining grounded. Delta teams, including flight attendants, are preparing dedicated service procedures to support the larger Delta First cabin and maintain a consistent onboard experience.

Routes and Service Timeline

The aircraft are expected to begin entering service in May, with scheduled operations on routes between Atlanta (ATL) and Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and San Diego (SAN) effective June 7. Flights will be available for booking from February 21, with earlier service possible as aircraft are inducted into the fleet.

In addition to the expanded Delta First cabin, the aircraft will feature 54 Delta Comfort seats. Delta will continue operating aircraft equipped with Delta One suites and Delta Premium Select on select peak-hour services between Atlanta and Los Angeles for customers seeking lie-flat seating options.

The duration of the temporary configuration has not been specified, as it will depend on the delivery and installation timeline of the flatbed suites.
