Watch: Brisbane Airport Revamps its Terminals for 2032 Olympics

Brisbane, Australia, is already pulling up its socks as the host of the 2032 Olympics. To make the event even better, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has introduced its plan for a complete rebuild of the international and domestic terminals, costing around $5 billion. Gert-Jan de Graaff, CEO of BAC, introduced the plan at the Capa Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific 2024.

CEO Says

"This is our paradise and you are most welcome to share it. We are not investing for the Olympics; we are investing by the Olympics. Brisbane has the fastest capital city growth rate in Australia, and for airlines, this means even more opportunities. I promise that it will be worth it. We are creating a space for you. Brisbane is ready for you. There is a place for you," said Gert-Jan de Graaff at the event.

New Terminals

The new terminals, which aim to be ready to use before 2032 Olympics, are currently undergoing a dramatic revamp which aims to "revoluntionise the passenger experience with the most significant upgrades to the terminal since its opening 29 years ago." The work being done on the international terminal will include the relocation of security and passport control to Level 4 with enhanced security screening equipment, plus self-service check-in and bag drop linked to an upgraded baggage system. The retail stores including food outlets will be overhauled with an expanded duty free experience. The revamp is all a part of the $5 billion Future BNE transformation of the Brisbane Airport that it aims to achieve in the next 8 years.
