AirAsia has introduced two new domestic routes from its Bangkok Suvarnabhumi base, connecting the capital to Chiang Rai with two daily flights and to Nakhon Si Thammarat with one daily flight.
The expansion is aimed at improving connectivity for international arrivals at Suvarnabhumi, supporting year-end travel demand, and contributing to Thailand’s tourism sector.

By operating from both Bangkok airports—Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK)—AirAsia provides travelers with additional choices and flexibility. To mark the launch, the airline is offering promotional fares starting from THB 950 per segment, available through airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app.

Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said:“The final quarter of the year through early next year is a prime travel season, with both domestic and international travelers flocking to explore Thailand. Operating from two Bangkok hubs—Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang— allows us to attract new customer segments and enhance connectivity across our network, reinforcing AirAsia’s leadership in Thailand’s domestic market.”
“Thanks to strong demand at Suvarnabhumi, we are able to continue expanding new domestic routes. With the additions of Chiang Rai and Nakhon Si Thammarat, we now operate 11 direct routes from Suvarnabhumi alone. Combined with flights from Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket and more, AirAsia now offers a record 41 domestic routes nationwide.” added Mr.Santisuk.
With the new routes, AirAsia now operates 11 direct routes from Suvarnabhumi. Together with services from Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, the airline’s domestic network extends to 41 routes across Thailand. Currently, Thai AirAsia operates up to eight daily flights between Bangkok and Chiang Rai—six from Don Mueang and two from Suvarnabhumi—and four daily flights between Bangkok and Nakhon Si Thammarat, split across the two Bangkok airports.
To celebrate the inaugural flights, welcome events will be held at Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Rai, and Nakhon Si Thammarat airports, supported by local and government agencies. The events will showcase regional hospitality and highlight local culture, in line with efforts to promote domestic tourism during the festive season.
