AirAsia Travel Advisory for Malaysia’s 68th National Day Week

AirAsia Indonesia Suspends Bali-Cairns Route

AirAsia reminds guests travelling during Malaysia’s 68th National Day week to plan for a smooth journey.

As part of the celebrations, there will be a temporary closure of airspace within the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area on 26–28 August (11 am–12 pm) and on 29 and 31 August 2025 (8.45 am–9.45 am) to facilitate rehearsals and the National Day flypast in Putrajaya. Travellers may also encounter heavier traffic at check-in counters, security, and immigration due to the long weekend holiday.

Travel Advisory:

  • Check-in: Perform self-check-in via the AirAsia MOVE app, available 14 days up to one hour before departure. Counter check-in is only available for guests with reduced mobility, those travelling with an infant (under 24 months), pregnant guests, senior citizens, and unaccompanied minors.

  • Pregnant travellers: A form must be completed at the counter before boarding. Guests beyond 27 weeks of pregnancy require a doctor’s medical certificate.

  • Special assistance: Guests with reduced mobility may pre-book wheelchair service during booking or through the “My Bookings” tab on the AirAsia MOVE app at least four hours before departure.

  • Travel documents: For international travel, ensure compliance with visa and entry requirements for each destination and transit point.

  • App services: The AirAsia MOVE app allows travellers to upload visa details and receive a complete boarding pass. Use the e-Boarding Pass for boarding without printing.

  • Airport arrival: Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Check-in counters close one hour before departure at KLIA Terminal 2 and 45 minutes before departure at other Malaysian airports.

  • Baggage: Use airport kiosks for baggage tag printing and self-bag drop. Cabin baggage is limited to one piece (56 x 36 x 23cm) plus one small personal item, with a combined weight not exceeding 7kg.

  • Immigration: Malaysian passport holders may use the MyBorderPass app at KLIA Terminal 2 for simplified clearance.

AirAsia extends its greetings to all Malaysians on the occasion of the 68th National Day.
