Air India Ranks Fourth Globally for On-Time Performance in June 2026

Air India Joins Global Top 5 for On-Time Performance

Cirium Places Air India Among the World’s Most Punctual Airlines

Air India has been ranked the fourth most on-time airline in the world for June 2026 by aviation analytics firm Cirium, reflecting the airline’s continued focus on operational reliability and schedule performance.

According to Cirium’s June 2026 On-Time Performance Report, Air India achieved an on-time arrival rate of 86.85% across 15,135 flights tracked during the month. The airline also recorded an on-time departure rate of 86.23% and a completion factor of 99.7%, indicating that almost all scheduled flights operated as planned.

The performance follows the airline’s continued efforts to strengthen operational planning, improve network coordination and enhance execution across its domestic and international operations.

Focus on Operational Reliability

As a hub-and-spoke carrier operating through Delhi and Mumbai, Air India manages a complex network that is often affected by airport congestion and air traffic restrictions. These operational challenges can influence flight schedules across both domestic and international routes.

To improve reliability, the airline has introduced measures including better departure management, quicker aircraft turnaround times, enhanced real-time network monitoring and faster operational decision-making.

Air India has also strengthened contingency planning, improved coordination between operational teams and increased its ability to respond to disruptions such as adverse weather, airport congestion, airspace restrictions and technical issues. These initiatives aim to reduce delays and maintain schedule stability.

Fleet Modernization Continues

Operational improvements are being supported by Air India’s ongoing transformation programme, which includes fleet renewal, digital enhancements and improvements to the customer experience.

The airline has placed orders for 600 Airbus and Boeing aircraft and continues to modernise its existing fleet. Over the past six months, Air India has added three Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with additional Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-1000s scheduled to join the fleet later in 2026.

The retrofit programme for the airline’s legacy widebody fleet is also progressing. Two upgraded Boeing 787-8 aircraft have already returned to service, while three more are currently undergoing refurbishment in the United States.

By the end of 2026, more than half of Air India’s widebody fleet is expected to feature new or upgraded cabin interiors, supporting improvements across its long-haul network.
