Emirates Adds Second A350 Colombo Flight

Emirates Expands Colombo Service with More Premium Economy Seats

Emirates will introduce a second daily Airbus A350 service between Dubai and Colombo from 8 August, expanding capacity on the route and increasing access to its Premium Economy cabin.

The new deployment will replace the Boeing 777 currently operating flights EK648/649, offering passengers two daily A350 services with Premium Economy. Emirates currently operates four daily flights between Dubai and Colombo using a combination of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

Flight EK648 will depart Dubai at 16:10 and arrive in Colombo at 22:10, while the return flight EK649 will leave Colombo at 02:55 and arrive in Dubai at 05:50. All times are local.

More Premium Economy Options

The additional A350 service provides travellers with more flight options and increased availability of Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin.

The airline’s A350 Premium Economy cabin features a 2-3-2 seating layout, wider seats, increased legroom, adjustable headrests and individual 13.3-inch entertainment screens. Passengers also receive priority boarding, dedicated check-in at Dubai International Airport, an increased baggage allowance of up to 35kg, and enhanced onboard dining and amenities.

Modern Cabin Features

The Airbus A350 introduces Emirates’ latest cabin design, offering quieter interiors, wider aisles, higher ceilings, improved Wi-Fi connectivity, and advanced 4K entertainment screens across all cabin classes.

The aircraft also offers onboard entertainment in multiple languages, including Tamil and Sinhala, providing greater convenience for travellers flying to and from Sri Lanka.

Strengthening Colombo Operations

The second daily A350 service follows the introduction of the aircraft on the Colombo route in March 2025, when Emirates first introduced Premium Economy on flights to Sri Lanka.

This year also marks 40 years of Emirates’ operations in Colombo. The airline currently connects the Sri Lankan capital with nearly 140 destinations through its global network while operating four daily services between Dubai and Colombo, including one service via Malé.
