Vietnam Airlines Launches Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket Flights
TAT Supports Vietnam Airlines’ New Phuket Route
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed the launch of Vietnam Airlines’ new Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket service, marking the first outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two organizations in May 2026.
The inaugural VN621 flight departed Tan Son Nhat International Airport on 2 July 2026 and arrived at Phuket International Airport carrying 152 passengers. The arrival was marked by a water-cannon salute, while passengers and crew received floral garlands and commemorative gifts.
The new route will operate four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using an Airbus A321, providing direct connectivity between southern Viet Nam and Phuket.
Miss Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and South Pacific at TAT, said the new route demonstrates how collaboration with Vietnam Airlines is creating new travel opportunities, supporting tourism growth and expanding regional air connectivity within ASEAN.
To support the new service, TAT’s Ho Chi Minh City Office will host a familiarisation trip from 7 to 11 July 2026, welcoming 16 Vietnamese travel agents and four media representatives to Phuket. The programme will include destination visits and business meetings with local tourism operators to strengthen travel partnerships.
TAT is also promoting the “Thai Lan – Càng Hiểu Càng Yêu” campaign through marketing activities, trade partnerships and travel packages designed for Vietnamese travellers. The campaign focuses on lifestyle, family, event-based and flexible travel experiences while supporting Thailand’s target of 689,000 visitor arrivals from Viet Nam in 2026.
The launch of the Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket service strengthens air connectivity between Thailand and Viet Nam while supporting tourism, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
