IHG Signs Crowne Plaza Vienna Hotel
Crowne Plaza Vienna Set to Open in Late 2026
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed Crowne Plaza Vienna, marking the brand’s return to Austria in partnership with FEURING Asset Management GmbH. The hotel is scheduled to open towards the end of the third quarter of 2026.
Designed by David Chipperfield, the project draws inspiration from the Austrian National Library and combines contemporary architecture with practical design. The hotel will feature 195 guestrooms, including 22 suites, with top-floor rooms offering panoramic views of the city.
Located in Vienna’s Margareten district, the property sits between the Opera House and Schönbrunn Palace, with convenient access to the Margaretengürtel underground station. The area has seen significant redevelopment, making it an attractive location for both business and leisure travellers.
The hotel has been designed with sustainability in mind and is expected to receive both the EU Ecolabel and the Austrian Environment Label. Facilities will include five meeting rooms for up to 140 delegates, an underground car park with electric vehicle charging points, an Austrian-inspired restaurant, a bar, a rooftop fitness terrace, and a wellness area.
The signing comes as Vienna continues to attract both leisure visitors and business travellers, recording more than 20 million overnight stays in 2025.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the return of Crowne Plaza to Austria reflects the brand’s focus on serving both business and leisure guests. She added that the partnership with FEURING supports IHG’s continued expansion across Europe.

Matthias Lowin, Managing Partner of FEURING Asset Management GmbH, said the collaboration with IHG aligns with the company’s vision for the property and will help establish the hotel within Vienna’s hospitality market.
Crowne Plaza currently has more than 400 hotels worldwide, including 94 operating across Europe and another 22 in development. The Vienna property will strengthen IHG’s presence in Austria, where the company now has 20 open and pipeline hotels, including 11 properties in Vienna.
